Stream of consciousness

When my sister, Amy, was little she said the funniest thing. But we'll get to that in a minute. First, I need to give you some background information.

When Amy was about 3 or so, she was in a "mother's day out" class that she went to once a week. In that class was a little boy named Bob Baker and he was the only kid that still wore diapers. Amy would walk around saying, "Bob Baker wears Pampers!"

During this same time period, I had an aquarium in my bedroom with several fish in it. All the fish had names. I even went so far as to make a key; I drew a picture of each fish and wrote its name beside it. Well, one of our favorites was a fish I named Bob. He was one of the sucker fish that would clean the algae off the sides of the glass.

One day my mom took Amy to the library for story time. The woman was reading a book about fish. All of a sudden Amy raises her hand. The lady calls on her and she said, "Bob? We have a Bob. Bob Baker wears Pampers!" It was a total stream of consciousness comment that made a little bit of sense if you knew that "Bob" was a fish, etc. My mom said she was mortified and that the woman just sat there, not knowing what to say to Amy's crazy comments. It cracks me up every time I think of it!
